Why do I not like to watch dance on a screen

I would like to explain to you why dance often loses its magic on screen and is so much more powerful live.

I'm a professional dancer and I have to admit that I don't like watching dance on TV, live dance is like a thunderstorm for me.

You can feel the energy.

The movements.

The power.

But on the screen?

I think something crucial is missing:

the energy between dancer and audience disappears and the atmosphere is lost.

Imagine watching fireworks on your mobile phone - nice, but without the real tingle.

Don't get me wrong:

dance videos are important, they inspire and document and several ties I am also wtaching dance on screen, cause I have no other choice or simply the distance is too far to travel and get there.

They are like a photo of the Grand Canyon:

a nice impression, but miles away from the real experience.

That's why I encourage you to go to dance performances and experience the magic live. Because dance is more than movement - it is energy, presence and life, and as a dancer I know that nothing can replace the energy of a live performance, the atmosphere, the excitement and the magic of the moment.
