Similar to writer's block ...
An empty dance hall can be as intimidating as a blank sheet
of paper.
But every creative journey begins with a first step.
Sometimes I stare into the empty dance space for hours
The empty dance space stares back.
No ideas.
No inspiration.
Like a writer in front of a blank page.
But my dance hall is
now full of waiting dancers.
The music is playing, but my
body is silent.
Others think dancers just move to the music,
spontaneously and naturally.
The truth is:
sometimes I feel frozen.
Every movement seems wrong, every idea too
banal.
This choreography block is real, just like writer's block.
But I've learnt that the block is only temporary.
Sometimes you just have to start.
No matter how.
No matter what.
A simple turn.
A small step.
A spontaneous image.
Because creativity is like a shy animal ...
It comes when you stop chasing it.
